For those interested to colaborate with a noble cause, I am proud to announce that my musical colaboration of the traditional Irish song "Foggy Dew"with the awesome singer Aoifé is now available from Peace Partners .

Peace Partners has the blessed mission to gather as many artists as possible, ranging from amateurs to professionals, across different genres, and develop an album together that would not only promote the ideals of peace and freedom through music, but also would foster International collaborations as part of this process.

All proceeds are donated to organizations that demonstrably improve this world we all share. Amnistie internationale Canada francophone and War Child Canada have already signed on as part of the Peace Partners project. Reflective of our intent, it has been proposed that we submit the album to the United Nations, as a testimony to the hope that continues to exist in the world.

Hi to all... I would like to share with you the covers of the original 1988 "Poitín" release issued on analog cassette tape. This album is the "first celtic recording" ever done in Argentina, including original and traditional tunes and lyrics accompanied by gaelic harp.

In 1987 I began at the Royal Celtic Association to line-up it’s folk band ‘Poitín’ (gaelic for the reknown irish ilegal whiskey), we did some shows live and for TV, a southern gig among welsh communities in Patagonia, and finally recorded a tape in 1988, which actually is the first recording ever made in Argentina of celtic music, songs and poems, traditional and of our own in galician language. Due to changes of attitudes and feelings towards it’s music the band splited in 1990.
Track 1: The Buried Harp (trad.arr. emp/gf)
During the 17th & 18th Centuries many records of music and poety from Ireland were lost due to countless exiles and threats. Between 1650 and 1660 Oliver Cromwell destroyed over 500 harps in Dublin and almost 2000 all over Ireland.
Even in it’s weakest hour, the music and poetry remained under the skill of harpists such as Turlough O’Carolan and preserved later on printed records. The first tune of this set was composed by O’Carolan for the sake of a certain "Eleanor Plunkett" fron his native county of Meath and recopilated by Donald O’Sullivan. The second tune, "The White River Bank" is taken from the repertoire form the Brennan and Duggan families from Gweedore, County Donegal, artistically known as "Clannad",who presumed has been composed by 1666 in County Tyrone.

Track 3: The Cristaline Truth (trad.arr. gf)
A mythical song on which water, source of life, reveals as councelor, oracle and warning for the maid in love, who maintains a dialogue with a Xacia or Ondine. We’ve chosen a version in spanish recopilated by the asturian folk band "Trasgu", the source probably belongs to the region of Navia, at eastern Asturias.

Track 4: Asafe in Berwick. (trad arr. gf)
By those days when the United Kingdom was not "united", many crossed the River Tweed ahead to Scotland to flee from the English opression.As quoted by the welsh folk group "Ar Log" this ancient welsh jig was employed as a dancing tune and also as melody for the song "Go to Berwick, Johny" .
Track 5: Dancing Among Dolmens (trad. arr. gf)
Bretons are keen to dolmens, and believe in Korreds, tiny beings watchers jof hidden treasures, inclined to dance, to music and song. In this track we mingle new instruments with old. The tune performed is a "Derobée", a popular dance from Northern France, either on galic and breton zones. The 1st Part is considered traditional from Gwengamp in Brittany; though as the breeton folc band ‘Tri Yann’ (source of the tune) comments, it has examples in the region of Provence. The 2nd part was composed presently. So…let the dance whirl till the new day….

THE ROYAL CELTIC ASSOCIATION is an independent organization. It’s goals are: the investigation, study, and perfection of Galician traditions intending to demonstrate a constant evolution in music and all the cultural context apropiate to present days. Thus, the development of the Highland Galician Bagpipe by Manuel Castro, model based upon the traditional type.
Due to it’s panceltic goalsñ, The RCA lines up the Poitin Celtic Group, developing a musical style of our own
based on either traditional tunes or not, according to contemporary folk styles and bardic expressions.
On this, our 1st album, we tried to recreate those three bardic moods which conferred mastership to gaelic harpists:
The music for lamentation and melancholy (Goltraidhe)
The music for lullabies and sweet dreams (Suantraidhe)
The music for joy and dance (Geantraidhe)
In this way, with an evocative bardic spirit, and replenished by the styles that still echoe in the tradition of our people, we dedicate this work to those who wish to be truly celts, to those who struggle for being celts, to those who actually are celts.

MAUAS PINTO/BOLLANI -THE "NEW CELTIC" PROJECT

It was on October 2006 when I was introduced to Gabriel Bollani a neighbour musician who has the same passion for virtual developments as meDue to a proposal of a local label about recording a chill out album, our duet raised as part of this experimental project intending to create a New Celtic approach to traditional songs based on the fusion of celtic instruments like irish harp, whistles, bagpipes, bodhran, assorted guitars with other virtual sounds and instruments. Basically our intention is to work as a duet with guest vocalists.On this song the vocals were recorded by Patricio Villanueva, the lead singer of Chaneton, he owns a unique voice similar to Peter Gabriel's, endowing thus an outstanding touch to our new version of this song.
It was on December of 2006 when wepublished our 1st demo cut: "She Moved through the Fair" on the local music magazine "Mellotron" which is published along with a CD sampler. Presently we have recorded all 13 tracks of this new work which we hope to finish soon in order to share it with you.

BRAN - "AWEN" - Argentina - 1998

Hi to all bloggers! This is Eliseo Mauas Pinto sending you warm greetings from Argentina on behalf of BRAN! Just in the 10th Anniversary of it's 1st edition, it is a pleasure for me to share with all of you the "Awen" album which I recorded under the BRAN line up in 79 festive hours between Sept. 22nd of 1997 and April 2nd 1998. This new edition includes a Bonus Track: The Chosen One (Edit 2008) This is the First Digital Recording ever done in Argentina featuring Celtic Harp. Other traditional instruments were also included such as whistles, pipes, violin, mandola, mountain dulcimer and bodhran, amongst others. The title of the Album is related to it's opening tune, revealed to me on whistle during a session with BRAN's co-founder and guitar player Xandru Reguera, tune which in fact was pre-existent since we discovered some time after a lost take of it recorded sometime in the past by him! Awen is a welsh word related to the trance of a bard during the creation act. Let me comment to you in brief that in the early '90's, the popular Buenos Aires based 'Poitín' band, dissolved to give birth to new bands. One of these was 'Lenda Gwyn' which after a short period gave birth to 'Duir' during the autumn Celtic New Year celebration of Samhain in 1993, proceeding to introduce new repertoire over four years of concert appearances. As one of it's leading members I left ´Duir´on Samhain '97 and began work on a solo harp project, soon after 'Duir' dissolved. That project grew in scope to become a new band: 'Bran'. As members of 'Bran' we were drawn together by a mutual love for a style we came to describe as ´musical perspective from Celtic roots'. The band began to weave together old Celtic tunes and new tune of their own, inspired by the feelings and views of the modern Celts, always trying to explore new directions in folk music and the shared Celtic cultural heritage that spans from the British Isles to South America. The band was joined by several other musicians to enrich the whole project and make Bran´s first album a reality. Part of the concept was to record the first Argentine CD featuring the Gaelic harp as one of it´s lead instruments. Through their arrangements, the band tried to unveil and reflect both the marvel and tragedy of a still-vivid Celtic history. This is music born of Argentinian soil that tries to capture some of the symbollism of clan marches, airs, dances, and songs of the scattered Celtic peoples. The band´s sound combines the harmonic dimension of the Gaelic harp, the rythmic pulse of assorted percussions, the weaving counterpoint of fretted instruments, the lilting melodies of fiddle and flutes, plus the undeniable Celtic feeling of the songs. Tracks of the album appeared also in the CELTICA Magazine Sampler.Throughout the years we were able to spread BRAN's music in foreign countries such as Chile, Uruguay, United States, Spain, Ireland,and United Kingdom. Flowing with the living currents of our migratory ancient forbears, we take part in a musical and symbolic voyage. The music of 'Bran' is like a 'round trip' carryingto 'another dimension' of our lives and back again.We hope dew to this blog it will trip farther reaching the four corners of the world!...
