Two
separate ‘journeys’ will intersect on January 24, 2015 when Loreena appears as
a special guest in a Celtic concert in Stratford, Canada, by invitation from The Stratford Symphony Orchestra. It’s
part of the local orchestra’s 10th anniversary concert series, which bears the
same name as her recently-released compilation album – The Journey So Far.
As
a featured guest, Loreena will sing, as well as play the harp and piano along
with the 55-member orchestra. NOTE: At the time of this release, Loreena is committed
to performing three songs in the least
and possible more.
“I’ve only performed with a symphony
orchestra a few times in the past and I found it totally exhilarating,” says
Loreena. “I’m truly looking forward to this experience with our exceptionally
talented local orchestra.”
Loreena
will perform material from her most recent album, The Journey So Far: The Best
of Loreena McKennitt, along with a few other surprises. The concert will take
place the 100-year-old Knox Presbyterian Church in downtown Stratford, where
she resides and has performed in recent years.
“There’s a lovely synergy to our
coming together for this concert and clearly The Stratford Symphony Orchestra
has been on a journey of its own these past 10 years,” she adds. “I’m
anticipating that bringing our two ‘journeys’ together will be a delightful
musical experience.”
Tickets
for the concert are $35 and available now!
